Program Structure

The DEEP Summer Academy 2009 runs for 4 weeks during the month of July at the St. George Campus of the University of Toronto, located in downtown Toronto.

Week 1: July 6 – 10, 2009
Week 2: July 13 – 17, 2009
Week 3: July 20 – 24, 2009
Week 4 (Design Week): July 27 – 31, 2009

Start by reviewing our incredible range of week-long courses, which will be available in January 2009 online. DEEP courses tackle some of the most interesting and innovative topics being studies within the fields of engineering, technology, applied science and business.

Choose up to 4 different DEEP courses depending on your interests. When you review our full course offerings you’ll notice that DEEP courses are “themed” to offer you the option to take courses in one specific area—however, you may mix and match between themes to customize your DEEP experience.

Week 4 of DEEP is called DEEP Design Week. Courses during DEEP Design Week offer you the truly hands-on experience of applying your knowledge to real-world issues. In order to participate in DEEP Design Week, you must have taken at least one DEEP course in Week 1, 2 or 3.

Instructors

All courses are taught by Ph.D. and Masters students at the University of Toronto—selected especially for their expertise and passion for teaching. In order to maintain an interactive and intimate learning environment, class sizes are kept small, with no more than 25 students per DEEP course.

After Class Clubs Program

From 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm, we offer DEEP students our After Class Clubs Program. This program gives you the opportunity to explore your non-academic interests in areas such as Latin dance, journalism, photography and even hip hop dance. The After Class Clubs Program is a great way to meet individuals from outside your DEEP courses while learning or enhancing your skill in a number of fun activities.

Residence

To round our your university experience, why not live on-campus during DEEP? Students who live in residence during their time at DEEP get to do all sorts of fun on- and off-campus activities. “Check out what residence has to offer!”: Residence during DEEP is fully optional.
