Through DEEP In-School Workshops, we hope to generate even greater interest for science and engineering among high school students. Each workshop engages students in grades 9 through 12 through innovative and hands on projects, in a similar style to our popular DEEP Summer Academy .
These interactive workshops are grade-specific and have been specially designed to complement and enrich the current Ontario secondary school curriculum.
DEEP In-School Workshops also offer the unique opportunity to engage and inspire your students by bringing U of T’s cutting-edge research into your classroom. Let us share our enthusiasm for science with your students!
We also offer In-School Workshop program for students in Kindergarten to Grade 8. Click here to find out more!
Our Approach
We believe that students are most effectively excited about science and engineering through hands-on experience. Research shows that students learn best in an active and engaging environment–and this is what we promise to provide your students.
In each workshop, students learn about and use the engineering design process to build and test their own projects. Each workshop meets specific science requirements of the Ontario secondary school curriculum. Besides aiming to excite and inspire students, another important part of our mandate is to demonstrate the importance and relevance of science and engineering in everyday life. This is why each workshop also provides students an opportunity to learn about the thrilling and cutting-edge research and advancements taking place at U of T. It all adds up to a meaningful and unique learning experience for your students.
Our Instructors
All of our DEEP In-School Workshop instructors are enthusiastic and knowledgeable upper-year engineering students at U of T. As young men and women pursing their academic and career aspirations, our instructors also make excellent role models for high school students. Our goal is to provide instructors who can excite and relate to your students–enabling your students to envision themselves in the shoes of a university student. Our instructors aspire to spark enthusiasm and confidence in your students.
Please check back in early 2009 for more information about how to register for DEEP In-School Workshops!
