Our Instructors

Our instructors love to share their passion for science and engineering with campers! All our instructors are certified in first aid training and emergency protocol.

Meet a few of our instructors here!

We are currently in the process of hiring of an amazing group of instructors for this summer. We are no longer accepting applications for instructors.

If you’re interested in volunteering this summer with SCI-Camp and Jr. DEEP, please complete and submit the Volunteer Application Form below. Please note, all volunteers must have completed at least Grade 9 by this summer.

Christian Maxwell

“I was teaching a workshop on rockets last spring (which is also the topic of my thesis). As the workshop ended, the students asked me all sorts of really detailed questions about rockets and how it related to my research … everything from combined rockets and propulsion to fire triangles. It was a lot of fun explaining these complex concepts to such inquisitive young minds. The students were having as much fun as me!”

Christian Maxwell is in his final year of Engineering Science at U of T. After graduation he plans to work in the field of Aerospace Engineering then pursue graduate studies in Applied Mathematics.

Erin Somerville

“It was a wonderful experience being able to develop and implement workshops that met teaching objectives while stimulating interest in science and engineering. I took special care to create hands-on activities that would allow students to apply and demonstrate their newly consolidated knowledge. I really enjoyed my role in helping students develop a sense of pride for their academic work. I look forward to making my classroom a setting of acceptance, discovery and achievement.”

Erin Somerville graduated from U of T in 2007 with an Honours BSc in Biology, Botany and History. She is currently attending Queen’s University for her BEd in the intermediate/senior division.
