Residence Overview

RobotX is a live-in robotics immersion experience. All participants live in New College residence from the evening of Wednesday, May 27 (date of check-in) until Sunday, May 31, 2009 (date of check-out).

Information about New College Residence

In RobotX, participants will stay in the heart of the St. George (downtown) campus of the University of Toronto at the New College residences, only a 5 minute walk from our engineering complex. Students will live together, in single or double rooms, and dine together at New College while participating in RobotX. New College has its own cafeteria, common areas, outdoor courtyard for activities, computer lab for checking email, and laundry facilities. It offers a safe and secure environment for all students while they participate in RobotX. A trained staff of residence counsellors and Dons will live with the participants and lead the evening activities.

Check-in/Check-out

Check-in will take place on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 from 4-7pm and Check-out will take place on Sunday, May 31, 2009 from 4-7pm.

Dining

Students will have their breakfast and dinner at the Audrey Taylor Dining Hall, where you can watch your food being prepared for you by professional chefs! The dining hall is “all-you-can-eat”, marché style, and includes a salad and desert bar, a pizzeria, and multicultural cuisine – something to suit every taste bud! The cafeteria can accommodate vegan, vegetarian, and halal needs. If you have any major food allergies or other dietary issues, these can be negotiated with the Dining Hall – please contact our office to arrange these options

For lunch, students can choose between over 20 dining options on or near the campus. Students are required to purchase their own lunch.

Security & Supervision

Students participating in RobotX will be supervised at all times. Trained residence counsellors and Dons will live with the participants in New College. The New College residence also has a 24-hour concierge who is always available to the students.
